Sea Containers restaurant is one of those venues that have it all and where you are assured to have a fantastic experience.
First the decor is extravagant yet elegant and is supposed to replicate the interior of a luxurious cruise ship or maybe a submarine! Either way the nautical theme is very present through copper walls, round windows and more.
There is a very cool and imposing bar in the centre of the dining room, guaranteed to please those cocktail aficionados.
Last but not least, you can enjoy an ‘al fresco’ meal on the terrace with unique views over the North Bank and the Thames. The atmosphere is eclectic and causal and the staff is skilled.
The menu offers a wide variety of tasty dishes, vegetarian, fish or meat based. Some of my favourites are the shaved mushrooms, crab on toast, ceviche and the roast corn fed chicken. There is a genuine Mediterranean feel and influence to the cuisine, reflected in the emphasis on quality ingredients rather than sophisticated cooking.
Sea Containers restaurant is the perfect spot for a light lunch or a big night out and probably one of my favourite spots in London, as it combines great food, bubbly atmosphere and fantastic views of the city.
