I love hotels. Especially small and cosy ones, like No. 38 The Park. This cute venue is located in the heart of Cheltenham, in a quiet and residential neighbourhood, on the border of one of the most interesting parks I have ever visited.
First a few words about Cheltenham. Home to the famous Races and the Music, Science, Jazz and Literature festivals, this pretty town has become the cultural centre of the Cotswolds. It is the perfect base if you are planning to explore the area. Cheltenham is located in Gloucestershire, and conveniently reachable in 2 hours and 10 minutes by train from London Paddington station.
No. 38 The Park is part of The Lucky Onion family, which counts a few excellent properties in England. The hotel is nestled in a stunning Georgian townhouse, decorated with the most exquisite taste. It has the right amount of everything: comfortable, practical, cosy, modern, traditional and homely.
There are only 13 bespoke bedrooms designed by owner and interior designer Georgie Pearman. Every room has a unique charm and ambiance, with a noticeable attention to details and textures featuring Egyptian cotton linen, 100 Acres toiletries, mohair throws, leather and velvet headboards which add a warm luxury touch.
This exclusivity gives you the impression that you are the landlord’s’s special guest. Make yourself at home, have a seat in the elegant lounge area and help yourself to a selection of beers, wines, ciders, champagnes and spirits available at the “Honesty Bar” (remember to be honest and make a note of your consumption!)… This is not your usual hotel, it is far more relaxed and uncomplicated.
Breakfast is served every morning and consists of a mouthwatering buffet of fruits, cold meat, cheeses, pastries, cereal and a hot food menu. However, as soon as you wake up, a tray with freshly squeezed orange juice and freshly baked pastries awaits outside your door alongside your newspaper. Nice touch…
The property is available for full exclusive hire. The Breakfast Room can accommodate up to 56 people and the hotel staff can help you organise nannies, flowers, private chefs or even a marriage ceremony since the establishment holds a civil license!
Finally, if you are planning a family stay, note that No. 38 The Park is located on the border of the grade 2 listed Pittville Park, home to the Pump Room (a grade 1 historic building), lakes, aviaries, one of the best children play areas in the country, tennis courts, a pitch and putt golf course and a skate park.
